As AI becomes an increasingly integrated part of working life, it’s essential to keep up with the development—especially for project managers who want to work more efficiently and make better decisions. Maria Ölmhult was one of the participants in the AI for Project Managers course at Peter & Partner Utbildning. For her, it was a clear investment in the future.
“Having worked in project management for several years, it felt like a natural next step to explore how AI could help me become even more effective in my role,” says Maria.
The course, led by AI expert Mikael Westerlund, is designed to give participants both a theoretical foundation and practical tools to work smarter with the help of AI.
“Many project managers come into the course thinking AI is still something technical and complicated. But they’re often surprised by how accessible it is—and how much value it can add right away,” says Mikael.
During the training, participants explored how AI can be used to plan, analyze, and follow up on projects more efficiently. A major part of the course focused on automation—showing how AI can take over repetitive tasks and free up time for more strategic work.
“It was both interesting and fun to see and test how AI can act as a daily assistant,” says Maria.
According to Mikael Westerlund, this is one of the greatest advantages of AI:
“AI serves as both an advisor and an assistant to the project manager. It’s not about replacing expertise, but strengthening it—and freeing up time for the work that truly drives project success.”
One of the course’s key strengths is its hands-on approach. Participants get to test various AI tools in realistic scenarios—from generating project plans to analyzing data and producing reports.
“It quickly became clear just how much AI can help in different ways—as an extra coach,” says Maria.
“We want participants to be able to apply what they learn immediately in their own projects. That’s why the course is designed with practical exercises and real-world case studies,” explains Mikael.
After completing the course, Maria now sees AI as a natural part of her project management toolbox.
“Now I’m genuinely excited to start applying AI in my everyday work,” she says.
She recommends the course to anyone looking to take their project leadership to the next level.
“It’s a fun and accessible course—where your own curiosity is the only limit to how much time and effort AI can help you save, or how it can help you find new angles where you might otherwise stick to old habits,” Maria concludes.
